Cardiff City board to hold meeting with Omer Riza this weekend

Cardiff City's hierarchy will hold a meeting with Omer Riza this weekend with the manager's position still not having been resolved.

Riza has had six games in charge and has overseen a five-game unbeaten run heading into this Saturday's clash with Norwich City. He has lifted Cardiff off of the foot of the table and they now sit in 20th position.

The interim boss has been in charge since Erol Bulut was sacked in September and both results and the team's playing style has seen Riza gain backing from Bluebirds supporters.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman and CEO Ken Choo are expected to be at the game this weekend, with talks planned with the interim boss. Until now, Cardiff have been happy to allow Riza to continue, with many, including club legends, urging the board to allow things to continue the way they are.

Because Cardiff fans, as well as the club's owner Vincent Tan, have been burnt in the recent past by handing Mark Hudson and Steve Morison the job permanently, however there is a general consensus that clarity is needed in whatever form that may be. "Regarding the position, that's down to the board to discuss," Riza said ahead of this weekend's game. "I'm not being rude, but there's nothing more I can say. There are some meetings taking place with staff and board members in general, just to see how things are coming along. In respect of the position, it's now with the board.

"I can't comment on whether there will be talks regarding the position. It would be wrong of me to say anything that's not truthful. As far as I am concerned, there are meetings about general things, staff, players, results, hopefully we can move forward into the next game and get a good result.

"It's always good that the communication is key to any elite environment. Those conversations have been taking place from the minute I've been taking the first team. Everything has been great in that respect.

"When you're playing or when you're not playing you've got to act professionally. It's the same with me and in my position. I'm a professional and have been a professional for a long time now. I'm just being as professional as I can be. The question will be asked and eventually it has to be dealt with - but it's not for me to over-elaborate on what or when it's going to be."
