Cardiff City told to appoint manager who has just 'thrown a spanner in the works'
Cardiff City Owner Vincent Tan has been told to “jump in there” and appoint ex-Coventry City boss Mark Robins as the Bluebirds' permanent manager.
City have been without a permanent boss since Erol Bulut was sacked back in September. Bulut was axed just six games into the season, with the Bluebirds then sat bottom of the Championship table having picked up only one point.
Omer Riza has been in charge as interim boss for the last nine games, and the Cardiff City hierarchy are expected to make a decision on Bulut's permanent successor during this international break.

Former England international turned pundit Carlton Palmer believes Mark Robins is the man to lead Cardiff forward this season, having been sacked by Championship rivals Coventry City last week. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.
Robins had been in charge of Coventry since taking over in 2017. Robins list of achievements would surely impress Tan, having guided Coventry from League Two to the Championship. He also led them to the play-off final in 2023, when they narrowly lost on penalties to Luton Town and embarked on an impressive cup run last term, which saw the Sky Blues reach the FA Cup semi-finals in which they were defeated by Manchester United.
When asked about the Bluebirds' managerial position, Palmer said: “The Cardiff City hierarchy need to make a decision soon. They have got to the international break and I am sure that Vincent Tan will make a decision shortly.”

Palmer added: “What has thrown a spanner in the works is the fact that Mark Robins has now become available, I am absolutely gobsmacked that Mark Robins was relieved of his duties at Coventry City - it is unbelievable.
“But that throws a spanner in the works given what Robins has done at Coventry, but is he ready to go straight back into management? Or, when we are in the silly season of sackings - which we know is going to be around the corner - does he wait and see if there are better opportunities out there?
“It is an interesting one, it is a very important decision for the chairman, and he has got to make the right call on this one, but if you can get Mark Robins - no disrespect to Omer Riza - but then that is what you have to do, you have to jump in there and get him.”
Despite Robins now becoming available Omer Riza still remains the bookies' favourite, having boasted an impressive record since taking temporary charge with four wins, two draws and three defeats in nine games, a stark change for the Bluebirds from earlier in the season under Bulut.
