Carlos Corberan reveals West Brom 'medical advice' and Mason Holgate boost
Carlos Corberan revealed he used the international break to give his players valuable rest as they prepare for the toughest period of the season.
Games come thick and fast in the Championship but even more so in the build up to Christmas and with Albion in a strong position occupying fifth spot at the moment, huge matches are on the horizon.
Buoyed by a big win away to Hull City to end a streak of winless games, Corberan was asked how the break went and he explained: "We had to use the international break properly according to the previous games that we were playing, it was a demanding week before the break, and according to the next games that we are going to have.

"Now we arrive in a moment when the competition is probably at the toughest period in terms of the number of games that we are going to play. From here to January 4, we are going to play 11 games. In this 11, three games we have one week to prepare and in eight games we are going to have two or three days.
"I think it is five games where we compete three days before and three times where we compete four days before.
"It means that it is a very demanding competition. The medical advice was to use this international break as time to rest so the players can arrive in the best condition, not only this week but for the next months that we are going to face. So we had some days to recover and after we had some days of work because it was important to recover the rhythm of the team.
"The players who played for their countries have had a different rest but we had to manage the break in the same way. The fact that Holgate was sent off in the game he played with Jamaica allowed him to come back before so we could manage the situation with him well.
"And fortunately the last game of the other three was last Sunday so we have had enough time to do what the medical and physical staff advised me to do."
Corberan was asked whether he likes the Christmas period and playing so often and he said: "In some moments it is good to play games in a row. In some moments it is too much.
"But it is what it is. There are things that we cannot control. The only important thing is to arrive for the games in the same condition of the opponents. I like to always have the most fair competition. So when you have three days, don’t have the opponent with five. When you have two days, don’t have the opponent with three.
"The other day against Hull, we arrived in a mental, tactical and physical disadvantage according to them because we had two days and they had two days more. I want to have exactly the same."
