Casemiro makes Ruben Amorim promise as dressing room verdict on new Man United boss revealed
Casemiro has revealed that the Manchester United dressing room want Ruben Amorim to lead them to Premier League glory. The 39-year-old took charge of his final game for Sporting CP on Sunday evening, bowing out in a dramatic 4-2 win over Braga.
Eager to get the ball rolling at Old Trafford, he's expected to touch down in Manchester on Monday. While the Portuguese tactician won't lead a full first-team training session at Carrington until players begin to return from international duty, he'll still be greeted by some big names.
One of which being Casemiro, who's heard good things about his new boss. Speaking to reporters following the Red Devils' win over Leicester City, the 32-year-old midfielder revealed he and his teammates hope to climb to the top of the table under Amorim.

As quoted by the Mirror, Casemiro said: "The best thing is that everyone speaks highly of him. He marked an era at Sporting, at a time when FC Porto were the winners. Sporting are always among the three favourites, but they are usually a little behind Benfica and FC Porto, who are usually stronger. He marked an era, won titles and had a brilliant career at Sporting. Everyone speaks highly of him."
He added: "He will have an exceptional group here, who want to help, who want to continue growing, who want to learn, who want to be at the top of the table. We are waiting for him with great joy and happiness."
United are currently 13th in the Premier League, but they're only four points off Arsenal in fourth. The Red Devils are also in the Carabao Cup quarter-final and remain in contention for qualification to the Europa League knockout stages.
Nevertheless, ahead of his arrival at United, Amorim has claimed he's 'ready for the new challenge'. As quoted by TNT Sports, he said: "I feel ready for the new challenge. I'm not naive, I know that it's going to be very different, very tough, but I feel that I am ready.
"I'm at peace now. I can focus on my new job, and I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow," added Amorim. "I know how I am going to play in the beginning, because you have to start with a structure that you know and then you will adapt with the players that you have,” he said.
"Injuries or no injuries, what kind of players, the abilities to defend, to attack. I will discover that in the next few weeks. We don't have a lot of time to train so I have to show something that I know very well. So you can take whatever you want from that question."
