Celtic captain Callum McGregor says his side's attackers were "fantastic" in their Hampden rout of Aberdeen.

His side eased past Aberdeen with an emphatic 6-0 win at Hampden as Brendan Rodgers’ side earned a spot in the final, with either of tomorrow’s other semi-finalists Motherwell or Rangers waiting for them. Daizen Maeda grabbed a hat-trick and McGregor was speaking post-match before handing the attacker the player of the match award.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn also grabbed a goal each for the Hoops as they ended Aberdeen’s domestic unbeaten record while keeping their own intact. Jimmy Thelin’s Dons had come from two goals down at Celtic Park recently to draw in the Scottish Premiership, but the Parkhead side were too much for them this time.

Speaking to Premier Sports, McGregor said: “Obviously, semi-final, the objective is to get to the final and if you can do it in style then great.

“Thought the lads were fantastic, the level of finishing was unbelievable. And then you start to control the game from there, but the three goals for the start gives us a really good start.

“If you get one, he [manager Rodgers] wants two, wants three, wants four, and you know, you've got to keep the back door shut as well. So in terms of a semi-final performance then all we can ask for is a clean sheet, as many goals as we can and get ourselves into the final, which we've done.

“Obviously we'll see what happens tomorrow and see which opponent we face in the final and then at the same time you've got to reset and once the game comes you put everything into it and try and win the game, so that's where we'll be in December.”
