Celtic star compared to Tom Rogic as SPFL rival names 'hardest skill' that makes his so good

Stephen O'Donnell has explained why Celtic star Matt O'Riley is so hard to play against - and compared him to Tom Rogic.

The technically-gifted Aussie playmaker was a darling of the Hoops support during his trophy-laden nine years and came up with some huge moments, including the Scottish Cup winner over Aberdeen which kickstarted the quadruple Treble. Now, they have a carbon copy in midfield according to the Motherwell man.

The full-back says it's the way O'Riley receives the ball and takes it into midfield with such ease that makes him such a tough opponent. And it's exactly that ability that reminds him of Rogic, now retired after a spell down south with West Bromwich Albion.

O'Donnell told the Go Radio Football Show: “The way he receives the ball when you’re playing against him, I think it’s one of the hardest skills.

“The way he does it, he makes it look effortless.

“The talent he’s got, the ability, he reminds me of Tom Rogic in a sense.”
