Leicester City will be without key player Facundo Buonanotte for the Premier League clash against Chelsea after the international break. The Argentine serving a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Chelsea visit the King Power Stadium on Saturday, 23 November (12.30pm kick-off) in what will be Enzo Maresca’s first return to his former club since his move to Stamford Bridge in the summer. The Italian led Leicester to the Championship title last season.

Leicester will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. That game brought about another blow with Bounanotte picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the second half, meaning he will now have to serve a one-match suspension against Chelsea.

The midfielder is on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion and has arguably been one of Leicester’s best players so far this campaign. In his nine league appearances, he has scored three times and provided a further two assists and has been the Foxes’ brightest creative sparks.

The blow comes after manager Steve Cooper revealed that striker Jamie Vardy as well as full-back Ricardo Pereira missed the game at Old Trafford through injury. Vardy’s absence was felt against United with Leicester failing to score in the Premier League for the first time this season.

Leicester will hope that the striker recovers over the international break and is able to make a comeback against Chelsea.

Chelsea could potentially find themselves in a similar situation in terms of suspensions. Ahead of the game against Arsenal, Nicolas Jackson is on four cautions, if he is booked against the Gunners, then he will also face a one-game suspension which will be served against Leicester.
