Chelsea FC 1-0 West Ham LIVE! Pulisic goal - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Chelsea vs West Ham - LIVE!

Chelsea will be looking to put their recent Stamford Bridge woes behind them as they host London rivals West Ham in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Blues have lost three successive home matches, hammered 4-1 by Brentford in a west London derby before losing to Real Madrid in the home leg of their Champions League quarter-final and then going down 4-2 to Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

Thomas Tuchel laid down the law to his players in talks after that fixture and will be looking for a response against the Hammers, whose backline has been decimated by injuries at centre-back.

David Moyes will have to shuffle his pack and understandably will have half-an-eye on Thursday evening, when his side take on German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.

Chelsea FC 1 - 0 West Ham United FC

FT: Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

15:54 , Malik Ouzia

A late, late winner and the Blues are back to winning ways on home soil at last.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 West Ham | Christian Pulisic 90'

15:49 , Malik Ouzia

But they have stolen it anyway!

Marcos Alonso gallops down the left again and picks out the run of Pulisic in the middle, the American arriving right on time to sweep home.

MISSED PENALTY!

15:46 , Malik Ouzia

Remarkable!

It’s an absolute shocker of a penalty from Jorginho, who rolls it straight to Fabianski!

Red card!

15:45 , Malik Ouzia

86 mins: It could be about to get worse, too. Michael Oliver initially shows a yellow card but he’s been summoned by VAR to have another look and it’s going to be red.

A suspension West Ham could do without given their defensive injury woes, too.

15:43 , Malik Ouzia

84 mins: Penalty to Chelsea!

Oh, it’s a cruel game. Craig Dawson has been immense but he’s caught the wrong side of Lukaku and hauls him down as the Belgian spins to run in on goal.

15:39 , Malik Ouzia

81 mins: Into the final ten minutes we go and for maybe the first time in the match it feels like a bit of Chelsea pressure is building.

15:35 , Malik Ouzia

77 mins: A triple change for the Blues - Pulisic, Lukaku and Ziyech are all on.

15:33 , Malik Ouzia

74 mins: Best chance of the game?

Alonso’s cross is missed by Dawson and it falls kindly for Werner, who swivels and toes at goal on the stretch but can’t get enough power behind it and is denied by Fabianski.

15:31 , Malik Ouzia

73 mins: Another big gun enters the fray off the West Ham bench - Jarrod Bowen is on in place of Yarmolenko.

15:29 , Malik Ouzia

70 mins: Big stop.

Yarmolenko again gets in down the right and this time does go for goal himself. Mendy blocks his first strike but the Ukrainian is there on the rebound, only to be denied again.

15:21 , Malik Ouzia

62 mins: It won’t be a complete afternoon off for Declan Rice - he’s on in place of Mark Noble for the final half-hour or so.

15:16 , Malik Ouzia

57 mins: Almost a huge stroke of luck for Chelsea as Kante’s strike takes a nick off Johnson that might have caught Fabianski out but the Pole re-adjusts smartly to hold it.

15:15 , Malik Ouzia

56 mins: Things are finally opening up a bit. Yarmolenko dances down the right, shuffles inside onto his left foot and lays back for Soucek but the Czech’s effort is pretty tame and easily blocked by Silva.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:14 , Malik Ouzia

Stamford Bridge has woken up and it took a Thiago Silva header on the halfway line to do it. That moment of urgency and fight actually gave the fans something to cheer.

It shows what thin gruel they’ve been served up so far today - but at last there’s some atmosphere in here.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge

15:12 , Malik Ouzia

Dawson is having another superb game. Three times now he’s made big blocks and is commanding a back three made up of him and two full-backs.

15:12 , Malik Ouzia

53 mins: Massive block. No surprise that it’s Craig Dawson who hurls himself in front of Werner’s volley that may well have been heading in.

15:10 , Malik Ouzia

52 mins: Mason Mount delivers from the left to no one in particular but for a moment Fabianski is concerned it might be creeping in at the far post. It isn’t.

15:08 , Malik Ouzia

49 mins: That response that Tuchel is looking for hasn’t arrived yet. It’s West Ham who are enjoying the early territory at the start of this half, though there’s no real tempo or rhythm to either side.

KICK-OFF!

15:04 , Malik Ouzia

We are back underway...

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:04 , Malik Ouzia

That was a very strange half. Chelsea devoid of inspiration and Tuchel weirdly subdued on the bench. Let’s see if he livened up during his half-time talk. We should know early on if he’s got into the players at all.

15:03 , Malik Ouzia

Thomas Tuchel is back out in the dugout early as we wait to get back underway. I suspect there were some stern words in the dressing room.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge...

14:53 , Malik Ouzia

Moyes will be happy with the way his side restricted Chelsea through that first half and will perhaps be looking to introduce a few more of the first choice players in the forward line if they can keep them out throughout the second half.

HT: Chelsea 0-0 West Ham

14:48 , Malik Ouzia

A pretty much chance-less first 45 minutes. Not been a classic, this.

14:45 , Malik Ouzia

45+1 mins: There’ll be three minutes added on...

14:44 , Malik Ouzia

44 mins: Cresswell delivers but Kai Havertz is back there to head away before Mendy mops up after him.

14:43 , Malik Ouzia

43 mins: Thiago Silva is furious as he’s pulled up for a foul on Yarmolenko. Decent crossing position for the free-kick...

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

14:39 , Malik Ouzia

That’s twice Kante has found himself in really good positions around the box and taken the wrong decision. The West Ham area is heavily congested, but Chelsea have got to do better with the ball.

14:37 , Malik Ouzia

37 mins: They might only have one fit centre-back but my word he’s in some form at the moment. Another vital contribution from Craig Dawson as he stops Kante’s pass finding Werner through on goal.

14:33 , Malik Ouzia

33 mins: Fornals hooks a decent ball in behind that Benrahma is running onto but Yarmolenko charges across him and tries to hook back across goal. His effort is always wide and he’d probably have been better off letting his teammate take that on.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge

14:28 , Malik Ouzia

West Ham’s makeshift back line is holding up so far and they’ve had the odd opening at the other end with Benrahma pressing well. Those are chances they need to make more of, however. Someone like Bowen has the clinical touch to make things happen in those situations, something Benrahma needs to start adding to his game.

14:27 , Malik Ouzia

26 mins: It’s been a flat performance from the Blues thus far and Thomas Tuchel will not be best pleased. It feels very, very end of season, this.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

14:23 , Malik Ouzia

Considering West Ham are so threadbare at the back, Chelsea are hardly cutting them open. Promising positions are getting snuffed out too often. It is a familiar story, but Chelsea really need to sharpen up in the final third.

14:18 , Malik Ouzia

18 mins: Mistake from Azpilicueta - who is back on in blue boots now - as he has his pocket picked by Benrahma but the Algerian has neither an angle to work with, nor a teammate to pick out in the middle and Mendy smothers.

14:14 , Malik Ouzia

14 mins: It does look very strange seeing those swathes of empty seats around the Bridge. Feels a little flat.

14:10 , Malik Ouzia

10 mins: I’m not quite sure how, but one of Cesar Azpilicueta’s boots appears to have pretty much shorn in half. He’s off down the tunnel scrambling for another pair so the Blues are down to ten for a minute.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge

14:09 , Malik Ouzia

Plenty of big performances needed from this West Ham side today, but this could be seen as a chance for Yarmolenko. He’s had some big moments this season with goals against Sevilla and Aston Villa, but having all but confirmed he’ll be a free agent this summer this is a chance to show what he can do.

14:08 , Malik Ouzia

8 mins: N’Golo Kante is Chelsea’s main attacking threat at the moment. He’s found on the edge of the box by Loftus-Cheek and works half-a-yard of space before dragging wide.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge

14:06 , Malik Ouzia

Azpilicueta is starting on the left of the three at the back, with Chalobah right. With Rudiger and Christensen set to leave this summer, it underlines how short it leaves Chelsea defensively. Two veterans at the end of their careers and a prospect, who has only just broken into the first team set up.

It will cost a lot of money to address in the summer.

14:03 , Malik Ouzia

3 mins: A first bit of defending for West Ham to do as Kante’s cross is swung in from the right but Coufal is up to the task, flicking away at the far post.

KICK-OFF!

14:00 , Malik Ouzia

We are underway at the Bridge...

13:56 , Malik Ouzia

The teams are on their way out at the Bridge, Mark Noble leading out the visitors. He won’t get too many more chances to do that.

Jack Rosser is at Stamford Bridge...

13:52 , Malik Ouzia

13:50 , Malik Ouzia

David Moyes has just been speaking to Sky Sports and says that drawing with Burnley last weekend made his mind up in terms of rotating his side today. Sounds like a concession in terms of the Hammers’ top four chances.

13:42 , Malik Ouzia

There’s been a change to the Chelsea side - Trevor Chalobah is in at centre-back in place of Andreas Christensen, who has a stomach problem.

13:40 , Malik Ouzia

Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United yesterday moved them within two points of Chelsea and while the Blues have two games in hand - the first of them coming up shortly - Thomas Tuchel will be desperate for his side to avoid being sucked back into the scrap.

Here’s the home side arriving a little earlier on...

13:30 , Malik Ouzia

James out

13:20 , Malik Ouzia

Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, makes three changes from Wednesday’s 4-2 home loss to Arsenal, with Reece James dropping out of the matchday squad altogether.

Kai Havertz starts up front ahead of Romelu Lukaku, with Cesar Azpilicueta in a back-three alongside Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is in at wing-back, it seems.

Moyes rotates

13:10 , Malik Ouzia

So, as if it wasn’t clear already, David Moyes makes it know that Thursday night is the priority as he makes six changes to his starting lineup.

Declan Rice, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio are all rested ahead of that Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt - it’s the first time Rice has been benched in the league all season.

Head-to-head record

12:29 , Malik Ouzia

Chelsea wins: 52

Draws: 22

West Ham wins: 43

Standard Sport prediction

12:25 , Malik Ouzia

While they have looked incredibly vulnerable at times in defence, Chelsea have still shown strong goalscoring form in recent weeks and that could week continue against a depleted West Ham backline.

The Hammers have been superb in Europe but their Premier League results and performances have been inconsistent, and they may fall short against a Chelsea side desperate for a positive response.

Chelsea to win, 3-1.

West Ham team news

12:18 , Malik Ouzia

Moyes has a defensive crisis on his hands, with Craig Dawson the only fit centre-back after Issa Diop joined Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma on the sidelines.

That means Declan Rice could well drop back into defence, either in a back four alongside Dawson or even in a back three that would likely see Aaron Cresswell move inside.

A strong lineup in attack can be expected from the Hammers, even with a Europa League semi-final clash to come on Thursday.

Chelsea team news

12:13 , Malik Ouzia

Chelsea will be without Antonio Rudiger (groin) and Mateo Kovacic (ankle) for Sunday’s clash, after Tuchel confirmed the pair were still unavailable.

“No, for Sunday’s match they are not back,” said Tuchel on Friday. “Also no other injuries.”

After such a poor display from the Blues against Arsenal, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz look likely to return to the starting lineup.
