Chelsea have been handed a clear verdict by transfer target Victor Osimhen after his sensational performance in Galatasaray's recent victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Nigerian striker is currently on loan at the Turkish giants from Napoli but has been linked with a permanent move to Stamford Bridge in January. Osimhen almost secured a move to the Blues in the summer, but the deal fell through due to disagreements over his salary.

He's widely regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe and shone in Galatasaray's recent 3-2 Europa League win over Spurs, scoring a first-half brace. His loan deal doesn't run out until the end of the campaign, but according to reports, the striker inserted a break clause allowing him to leave for a fee of £66.6 million in January.

While speculation over a move to the Premier League continues to mount, the 25-year-old insists he is happy in Istanbul and ruled out a potential switch in the new year.

"I'm here as a Galatasaray player. I'm happy here. Since I came, the Galatasaray fans, the club, I saw how big a family this club is. The way they have treated me and my family in a wonderful manner," Osimhen said after the game.

"It's important to be able to give them my all on the pitch. I've seen a lot of the speculation linking me out of the club in January; I can state through me now I’m going to be here until the end of the season."

The 25-year-old's verdict will frustrate fans who are hoping he could be the prolific goal scorer that Chelsea have been missing over the past few years. The Blues have struggled to find a striker capable of scoring 20-plus goals in the league, although Nicolas Jackson's form has picked up over recent weeks.

Osimhen's ruthless performance on Thursday was praised by former Chelsea player Eni Aluko, who urged the club to make a move for the star.

"He's guaranteed goals. Even though he's fallen out with Napoli. He scores goals. He's great in the air, a physical presence. He's a sort of throwback. I think Arsenal and Chelsea should be looking at him," she told TNT Sports.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Readknapp also described him as the 'perfect' player when Chelsea were heavily linked with him back in the summer. Osimhen's form isn't going unnoticed, and proven goal scorers are hard to find at a reasonable price these days.
