Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has given his response to his return to former club Leicester City.

The 26-year-old completed a move from Leicester to Chelsea in the summer. He was one of three Chelsea men making their return from the King Power Stadium after making the same move.

Head coach Enzo Maresca also made the move in the summer, after leading the Foxes to the Championship title last season. Defender Wesley Fofana returned to his former club for a second time after moving to Chelsea in 2022.

Chelsea came out as 2-1 winners over Leicester, thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez. Jordan Ayew scored a late consolation from the penalty spot.

The reception for all three returnees couldn’t have been much different. Fofana was roundly booed and jeered with songs from home fans throughout the game, while Maresca was mainly ignored upon his return.

It was different for academy graduate Dewsbury-Hall. The midfielder was named on the bench for the first time in four Premier League games, and was brought on for the first time since September for the final few minutes, and was applauded by all four stands.

At full time, after acknowledging the travelling Chelsea support, the midfielder again got a positive reception when he did a lap of the pitch clapping the Leicester fans. He has now taken to social media to send a message over his reception.

On his Instagram story, he posted a picture of him during the game along with a caption reading “Thank you for the nice reception,” along with a blue heart. He then posted a second picture of him clapping the home fans, with a caption reading: “All the best for the season @lcfc.”

Fofana also took to social media to give his reaction to his return, writing on Instagram: “It always means something to me to come back here. Great victory for the team, let’s keep the streak going!”
