Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their transfer pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi. The Blues have been linked to the Germany international in recent days as Enzo Maresca continues to look for new signings ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Tosin Adarabioyo, Estevao Willian, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have already been announced as summer additions. Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga and Caleb Wiley are other players on the verge of signing for Chelsea.

With a number of new additions already in the door, sealing exits to raise funds has also been completed with Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall both departing for a combined £65.5million. More players leaving Stamford Bridge this summer seems likely with Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Romelu Lukaku among those allowed to depart.

With two strikers on the club's books possibly moving on, making an attacking addition appears an aim for Maresca. The likes of Victor Osimhen, Samu Omorodion and Jonathan David have all been linked, with contact made by Chelsea for the latter duo, however it may not be a natural No.9 that Chelsea sign.

According to German outlet Bild, Chelsea are in talks with Dortmund over a summer deal for Adeyemi. The 22-year-endured a challenging season in Germany after missing nearly eight weeks with an ankle injury mid-way through the campaign.

From 34 appearances in all competitions, Adeyemi only contributed to seven goals, though he was rather influential in Dortmund's run to the Champions League final. Chelsea certainly know a thing or two about the winger on the European stage after he scored an excellent goal in Dortmund's knockout clash against the Blues in the 2022/23 season.

Considering his injury record over the past few years, Chelsea may only need to pay £25million for his signature with Dortmund keen to sell for one big reason. Having already signed Serhou Guirassy, Dortmund are looking for more attacking depth with Lyon star Rayan Cherki, once a Chelsea transfer target, reaching an agreement in principle to join the German club, according to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg.

Talks with Lyon over a fee for Cherki is where things get difficult, however Dortmund selling Adeyemi to Chelsea will certainly make things easier for die Schwarzgelben to bring in the 20-year-old Frenchmen.
