Chelsea are set to pocket £5million as part of their deal to sell Eden Hazard to Real Madrid back in 2019.

The Blues cashed in on the Belgian winger five years ago in a package deal worth £130million, made up of an upfront fee believed to be £88million and add-ons worth more than £40m.

The latest of those bonuses have been triggered after Real reached the final of this year's Champions League, ensuring Chelsea are continuing to profit from this sale years after negotiating Hazard's exit.

Hazard's contract with Los Blancos was terminated last summer, though the terms of his transfer remain valid and therefore ensure Mauricio Pochettino's side are able to receive a latest payment worth £5m.

That is according to The Telegraph, who state the add-ons attached to this transfer deal were made up of achievable bonuses such as Madrid reaching major European finals.

Hazard made only a total of 76 appearances across four seasons for the Spanish giants after struggling with injury issues and falling down the pecking order due to below-par performances.

The 33-year-old was heavily criticised for reportedly turning up to his first pre-season overweight, a claim he confirmed to be the case earlier this year. Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, he remarked: "It was true. But me, every summer I was putting on four or five kilos because I was thinking you give so much for 10 months, you put your body at the highest level and people kick you, so your time off is your time off.

"Don’t ask me to do anything. I enjoy being with my family, going to the beach, so don’t ask me to run in those three or four weeks. I can play football on the beach with my kids, no problem, but don’t ask me to run.

"But if you look throughout my career, the first month [of the season] is the bit where I was thinking it’s just the beginning, and then from September and October I was flying, because I needed time to put my body and mind in the best way.

"So yes, it’s true, I came back after holidays with five kilos, I knew it. I love everything with family and friends. If you ask me to eat something I'm going to eat. Even if I don't like it I'm going to eat! As a Belgian guy, we love beers because my country has the best beers in the world, so I’m not telling you I used to drink every day because it’s not true, but sometimes after a good game, one or two is nice."
