Chris Sutton and Paul Merson disagree as they make Nottingham Forest vs Leicester City prediction
Pundits Chris Sutton and Paul Merson disagree on the result as they predict the outcome of Nottingham Forest’s clash against Leicester City.
The Reds face the Foxes and former manager Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Friday night (8pm). They are unbeaten away from the City Ground so far this season, while Leicester have lost once on home soil.
Speaking to the BBC, Sutton said: “Leicester City came back from the dead to beat Southampton last time out, so they will be full of confidence.
“But I have a feeling Nottingham Forest will edge this. They don't score a lot of goals, but they are very impressive at the back - they have conceded six goals in their first eight league games, and only leaders Liverpool have a better defensive record.
“So I am going to go for another 1-0 Forest win, the same result as against (Crystal) Palace on Monday, which was the scoreline I predicted.
“Forest may have an injury issue with Callum Hudson-Odoi and if he does miss this game it will be a blow, but the old ‘Wood-chopper’ - Chris Wood - is unstoppable for them at the moment, with three goals in his past four games. Get him in your Fantasy team, that’s my advice.”
Sutton's prediction: 0-1
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson said: “Bit of a local derby this one! Leicester City got a phenomenal result last time out against Southampton. I said they’ll win it but I didn’t expect them to do it from being 2-0 down.
“Make no mistake, this is an equally important game for Leicester. They have to back it up with at least another draw now. If they go and get beat by Nottingham Forest that throws the good work they did against Southampton out the window.
“I like Steve Cooper despite the criticism he received early on. Leicester are definitely a team who have got results in them.
“They will finish above Ipswich Town and Southampton, but they need to find one more team they can get ahead of and that’s the tough part. Even though Wolves are where they are in the table now, they are not as bad as it shows. Same with Everton, they always find a way to avoid the drop.
“The major concern for Leicester - can they find another team that they can finish above in the table? I do think this is a really tough game for Leicester. Forest are a better team away from home and an excellent counter-attacking unit. I’m going for a draw in this one.”
Merson’s prediction: 1-1
