Cole Palmer has taken up a new role alongside his duties for Chelsea and England, featuring in one of several short films for Burberry. The 22-year-old midfielder, recently named the Three Lions' Men's Player of the Year, joined some big names in a campaign called, 'It’s Always Burberry Weather', to showcase British outwear.

Barry Keoghan, Zhang Jingyi, Cara Delevingne, Little Simz, Olivia Colman and Eberechi Eze, who's featured alongside Palmer for England a few times, also starred in the luxury fashion brand's advert. Each of the celebrities, who donned different styles, starred in short films shot across London and the British countryside.

The films were only between 35 seconds and 110 seconds long – apart from the Chelsea star's, whose bizarre video raised eyebrows. Palmer was shot sitting by a river, watching the world go by with some fishing equipment – while wearing 'The Duffle' – for nine minutes.

At no point during the video does the former Manchester City midfielder say anything – he's simply looking into the distance, and occasionally he picks up some fishing tools to fiddle with. Palmer, who's enjoyed a meteoric rise to superstardom since swapping the Etihad Stadium for Stamford Bridge last year, isn't the first footballer to step foot into the fashion industry.

Earlier this season, Declan Rice was a model at London Fashion Week, walking down a runway at the Emirates Stadium. The Arsenal ace wasn't the only sports star in attendance at the event; he was later spotted alongside Rio Ferdinand in the front row at a Burberry show.

"You know what, it was so good," said Rice after the show. "Really, really enjoyed doing it. Obviously my first time in the kit, speaking to a lot of the people then, they said me and Ghetts done well.

"So listen, I’ll listen to the pros and I’ll take that. So yeah, really happy. Buzzing. Been an amazing day and great first experience. It might be a career after football now, I don’t know but no I enjoy these type of things.

"I love fashion and to be asked to be involved in this is really special so you know it was something I couldn’t turn down and then to do it now I’m here, I’m really, really happy."

In the meantime, Lee Carsley will be putting Palmer, Eze and Rice through their paces at St George's Park as England gear up for a pair of Nations League fixtures this month. The Three Lions lock horns with Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night before facing Finland at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on Sunday evening.
