When are College Football Playoff rankings released? What to know
The 2024 college football season is down to its final weeks, and Tuesday, the third of six College Football Playoff rankings will be released. Those rankings identify the teams in contention for the national championship in January.
The second release of the rankings last week showed notable changes. Oregon remained No. 1 for the second consecutive week, and Ohio State, Texas and Penn State filled the remaining spots in the top four. Their rankings were determined based on a combination of factors, including win-loss records, strength of schedule and head-to-head results.
The third rankings will be released after Week 12 games that featured several top teams in crucial matchups.
