Community effort helps to locate missing defibrillator from Cornish sports club
A Cornish sports centre has celebrated a happy ending after a community-wide effort to locate a missing defibrillator.
Falmouth Sports Club, located on Western Terrace, issued a Facebook appeal this afternoon (Friday) for help in retrieving the device.
The club reported that on Friday, November 8th, between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, a man aged between 50 and 60, with grey hair and wearing a green medical uniform came into the sports centre and asked to use the defibrillator.
However, when the lifesaving equipment hadn't been returned after a week, the club shared an appeal to the public to help them locate the missing defibrillator.
The club explained: "This incident leaves the club without a functioning defibrillator, a critical safety resource for both the club and the wider community.
“Unfortunately, since the defibrillator hasn't been used, it cannot be tracked through our supplier's systems."
Remarkably, within just two hours of the appeal, the defibrillator was located and is now on its way back to the club.
A spokesperson for Falmouth Sports Club said: "We're delighted to confirm the defibrillator has been found and is returning to us.
“Thank you for your incredible community support."
