Coventry City next manager latest as new favourite emerges
Chelsea legend and former Derby County and Everton manager Frank Lampard has emerged as the short-priced favourite to replace Mark Robins as the next boss of Coventry City. Lampard is now evens to become the club's head coach in the wake of Robins' sacking this week.
The Sky Blues head to Sunderland on Saturday under the guidance of interim head coach Rhys Carr, who himself only arrived at the club in the summer along with George Boateng as part of the club's coaching reshuffle. Then, during the international break, the hunt for Robins' successor is expected to intensify and an appointment made.
At this moment in time, Lampard tops the market ahead of Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield, who after 13 matches has guided the Chairboys to the top of League One. Then comes for midfielder and England caretaker boss Lee Carsley. The list is a lengthy one but the picture at the top of the market is taking shape as City narrow down their list.

Lampard has been out of work since the summer of 2023, when he'd been brought back to Chelsea to oversee the remainder of the season as caretaker boss. He had spent a year at Everton between January 2022 and 2023, while his more substantial spell at Chelsea had involved him leading the Blues to the 2020 FA Cup final. He also led Derby to the Championship play-off final a year earlier.
