Coventry City transfer news as club linked with Hungarian international
Coventry City are interested in Kecskemeti TE midfielder Tamas Nikitscher, according to reports in his native Hungary.
Reports by Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport claim the 25-year-old is attracting interest ahead of the January window from a trio of Championship clubs, including the Sky Blues, as well as sides in Spain and Germany after impressing despite Necskemti’s struggles in the top flight this season.
A six-foot-four midfielder who can play centrally or in attacking areas, Nikitscher has impressed enough to be a regular for Hungary in their Nations League campaign, starting their last three matches against Bosnia and the Netherlands.

Nikitscher is currently managed by West Brom legend Zoltan Gera, who became his domestic manager last month. He has made four appearances for Hungary and won his first cap in September as a substitute in a 5-0 defeat to Germany.
He joined Kecskemeti in 2023 from Pecsi MFC after spells at Makoi and Debreceni VSC. His contract is due to expire in the summer.
His consistent performances, despite his side’s struggles, have fuelled speculation surrounding his future. Kecskemeti are rooted to the bottom of the Hungarian top-flight table, having won once in their opening 13 matches after consecutive top-six finishes in the last two campaigns.
Norwich and Middlesbrough are the other Championship sides alongside City supposedly tracking his progress, but the midfielder is focused on his duties at his current club.
“I’m focusing on helping my club, which is going through ups and downs,” said Nikitscher when asked about the interest.
“I’m paying attention to my task, and I hope I can contribute to getting us moving up the league as soon as possible. The invitation to the national team is, of course, an honour, and it is obvious that I will do my best to perform well in the national team as well.
“I’m not concerned with my future. I’m concentrating on my current tasks.”
Nikitscher’s agent Balazs Nanasi has confirmed there was growing interest from overseas in his client, with Spanish side Real Valladolid also linked with a potential swoop.
“We are constantly negotiating; we strive for the best solution,” Nikitscher’s agent, Nanasi, told Nemzeti Sport.
“We have had enquiries from England, Spain and Germany. Some clubs are only interested for the time being, others have been contacted several times.
“If there is an opportunity to move on, the most important thing is that Tamás gets to a club and plays football in a league that suits his style of play, where he can develop, which is clearly a step forward for him. There is no need to rush; there is time to consider all possible solutions.”
