Darwin Nunez has sent a strong message after starring for Liverpool in the win over Aston Villa. The Reds secured the three points at Anfield with a 2-0 victory over Villa on Saturday night in the Premier League.

Nunez opened the scoring in the first half before Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's second of the game in the closing minutes of the contest. The game also saw Trent Alexander-Arnold suffer a potential injury after being substituted to be replaced by Conor Bradley shortly after Nunez found the back of the net.

The strike from Nunez was his third of the season in all competitions and second in the Premier League. Soon after the full-time whistle, the Liverpool striker seemingly sent a clear message following his impressive performance against Villa.

Liverpool posted a photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, which showed Nunez standing in the tunnel at Anfield in front of the famous 'This is Anfield' sign following the impressive 2-0 victory. The striker was holding his fist up in the photo, with the club accompanying the image with a caption that included a bicep emoji and a Uruguay flag.

The win for Liverpool means that Arne Slot's team go into the international break five points clear at the top of the Premier League table. After the two-week hiatus for international football, the Reds will take on Southampton at St Mary's before hosting Manchester City at Anfield at the start of December.

City are second in the standings and were beaten 2-1 by Brighton shortly before the Reds faced Villa at Anfield on Saturday night. Arsenal are now 10 points behind Liverpool in the table but have the chance to close the gap when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
