David Gray doesn't fear Hibs sack as rookie boss rages at flops after St Mirren win
David Gray insists he doesn't fear the sack at Hibs despite crashing to yet another home defeat.
The Hibees remain rock bottom of the Premiership after St Mirren inflicted more misery on Gray's flop with a 2-1 win at Easter Road yesterday. The green-and-white faithful have run out of patience with the Hibernian's hierarchy and are demanding changes from top to bottom of the crisis-hit club.
Under-pressure Gray has just one league win from 12 games and furious punters let rip yesterday by jeering the team off the park. Asked if he's worried the axe will fall, Gray said: "I don't think worried or scared is the right way I feel about it. I fully understand the noise and rightly so because of the situation we're in, where this club is at the moment.

"We've talked a lot about it being a new squad and I could come up with 101 excuses, but where we find ourselves isn't good enough. One thing I do know is until someone tells me differently, I'm going to try as hard as I can. I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can as no one's more frustrated than me. I also know what's in the group and what we can be."
Hibs fans flooded for the exits well before full-time and Gray admits the lack of fight in his team angered him more than anything.
He continued: "The first-half performance today was unacceptable from our point of view. We were just miles off it. It wasn't just one player. There were a lot of players shying away from the ball, making mistakes, not taking the ball, and then making individual errors again, a lot of things we've talked about previously.
"But also the lack of fight and belief, probably, in the first half was missing for me. St Mirren played as if they were a team that wanted to win the game, while we're a team that need the points. And that was definitely my frustration at half-time, which is why I made a few changes to try and get back into the game.
"I thought we had a bit more of a go second half, but it's very hard to draw on any positives when you see the scoreline and the situation we find ourselves in just now. It's the first time I've come out and apologised to the fans, which I'll do now again.
"As much as we've been where we are in the league, there's always been a few positives to draw on. But it's very hard to draw on any today. And that's probably the bit that angers me the most right now."
