David McGoldrick reveals Paul Warne contact after Derby County exit
David McGoldrick has revealed he still speaks to Paul Warne following his exit from Derby County and says the Rams boss is a "good manager".
The Notts County striker scored 25 goals in Warne's first season at the club before quitting to join the Magpies, his boyhood team, at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
Warne wanted McGoldrick to stay at Pride Park but the forward could not resist a return to the club that kickstarted his career and is trying to spearhead a promotion to League One. But despite leaving Derby, McGoldrick and Warne have kept in contact and the forward praised him for the way he handles his players.

“Paul Warne is a great man-manager," he told SkyBet. "He did a lot of work with me in terms of finishing drills, always getting me into the office and going through my game. He's a good manager and came at a perfect time for me in my career when I was at Derby. I still speak to him now, and I hold him in high regard.”
Warne has currently guided Derby to 15th in the Championship with survival the club's ultimate priority following their promotion from League One last season. He is now the longest-serving manager in the Championship despite being in his third season at the club having moved to join the Rams from Rotherham United in September 2022.
And McGoldrick added: "He is massive for Derby. The job that he's done with the expectation that the club has is brilliant. To come in and get them promoted last year, and now they're around mid-table in the Championship, is not easy.
"The Championship is the hardest league in the world, and he's doing well. He's a great manager and I believe he's one of the longest-serving managers in the EFL. That shows everything that he's doing right there.”
