Declan Rice phone call to West Ham revealed as Arsenal pull out final day title race tricks

Declan Rice warms up prior to the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and Everton FC at Emirates Stadium.

West Ham United full-back Aaron Cresswell has revealed that Arsenal’s Declan Rice has been ‘on the phone’ ahead of the Premier League’s final day. The Gunners go into the last day of the season still with a chance of lifting the Premier League title at the end of the day.

They know that a win will put pressure on Manchester City, who will relinquish the title to Arsenal if they drop points. While Arsenal face Everton at the Emirates Stadium, City host West Ham at the Etihad, with both games kicking off at the same time.

The Gunners will therefore be looking for a favour from the Hammers, and Rice has been calling on his former teammates during the week. Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game, Cresswell said: "We are here to do a job. We have got to be professional.

“We have 3,000 fans here today. We are representing West Ham. And look, Dec's been on the phone; he has, yeah, but luckily we are here to do a job.”

Rice completed a £100 million move to Arsenal from West Ham last summer and has been a key player under Mikel Arteta this season. His former team does have an uphill struggle, though, with top goal scorer Jarrod Bowen ruled out.

It is reported that the England man is suffering from tonsillitis. He has scored a total of 16 goals and provided a further six assists in 34 Premier League appearances so far this season.

For West Ham, the result will have no impact on their finishing position in the table. David Moyes’ side are in ninth place, four points ahead of Brighton and five adrift of Manchester United.
