Derry City sign Northern Ireland international as Tiernan Lynch's rebuild continues at the Brandwell
Northern Ireland international Shane Ferguson is Tiernan Lynch's latest Derry City recruit.
Ferguson, 33, has played 57 times at international level - most recently in March of last year - and previously played at club level for Newcastle, Millwall and Rotherham, as well as with Rangers and Birmingham on loan. He left Rotherham last summer on a free transfer.
The left-sided defender and midfielder has joined on a one year deal, with the option of a second year. The move is the latest secured by new boss Lynch, who has succeeded Ruaidhri Higgins in the Derry hot-seat, with Adam O'Reilly and Brian Maher agreeing new deals in recent days.

A native of Derry, Ferguson sees the move as a homecoming. “I’m delighted to be coming home and once I had spoken with Tiernan and heard his plans for the club, it was a simple decision,” he said.
“I’ve been training hard after a frustrating last season and I’m feeling very strong. I will really benefit now from a full pre-season and be ready to go when the new campaign starts.
“Derry City is obviously a club I know a bit about and I’m well aware of how passionate that support base is. I’m really looking forward to doing my bit to hopefully bring success to the Brandywell.”
