SAINTS goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale issued a message to the supporters via social media following the 3-1 defeat at AFC Bournemouth.

Ramsdale, 26, has conceded 10 goals in his four Premier League appearances since signing for Saints on deadline day in August.

However, he can not be attributed the blame for any of them and has impressed the supporters since the move worth up to £25million.

Saints were embarrassed by neighbours Bournemouth as they slumped to a fifth defeat in six to start the league campaign.

Ramsdale, via Instagram, said: "We didn’t show enough fight and character in the first half which is disappointing after the support you have given us!

"The only way out is by working! Thank you to both sets of fans for the reception it means so much to myself."

Former Cherries man Ramsdale is certain to keep his place in the team as he returns to a second former club within a week when Saints visit Arsenal.

The St Mary's side have been given odds as long as 19/1 to win at the Emirates on Saturday, with Mikel Arteta's charges unbeaten so far this campaign.

Ramsdale signed a four-year contract at Saints following his transfer from the Gunners this summer and is battling to avoid a third top flight relegation.
