Alex Neil has expressed his admiration for the job Daniel Farke has done at Leeds United. The Whites are firmly in the mix for the Championship title, despite losing a number of key players in the summer transfer window.

Premier League clubs prised Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville away from Elland Road. Midfielder Glen Kamara was also sold as the Whites were forced to balance the books after coming up short in the Championship play-offs last season.

Neil, who previously led Farke's former club Norwich City to promotion to the Premier League, told Sky Sports: "Daniel’s had two disruptive summers; it was disruptive at the start of last season and the same this year, losing Summerville, Rutter and Gray which were big players. He deserves a huge amount of credit.”

Farke is targeting a third promotion out of the second tier of English football. With nearly a third of the season gone, United sit third in the table. Victory at Millwall tonight could see them go top of the pile if Sunderland slip up against Preston North End this evening.

Neil said: “Leeds will be one of the two teams that go up automatically. I just think they’ve got more consistency. I think now they’re starting to hit their stride and I think they’ll go on and be very strong this season.”

United head to The Den unbeaten on the road in the Championship this season (W2 D4), keeping four clean sheets. It’s their longest start to league season without a defeat away from home since 2018/19 campaign.
