Does Chelsea star Cole Palmer support Man United? Man City truth clear
Chelsea's star man Cole Palmer returns to his home city this weekend when the Blues face Manchester United in the Premier League.
The attacking midfielder has been a revelation for Chelsea since arriving from Manchester City in September 2023. Upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Palmer has hit the ground running and already has 32 goals and 20 assists to his name in just 56 appearances for the club.
After an electric first season in London, Palmer has picked up where he left off this season and already has seven goals and five assists in all competitions. Such form has raised eyebrows as to why City manager Pep Guardiola agreed to the 22-year-old leaving.
While Guardiola has always allowed players wanting to leave the opportunity to do so, it still feels like a rare misstep from the legendary City boss. There were also question marks as to why Palmer decided a new challenge was best for him at this stage of his career.
Many felt he would be promoted to being a first-team regular soon but Palmer has previously spoken about his patience having run out waiting for that chance. Another reason floated on the internet as to why the midfielder may have wished to leave City is that his affiliations actually lie in the red half of Manchester.
Last season, after scoring a late winner against United in the Premier League, Palmer was quizzed about supporting the Reds and admitted: "Yeah, when I was growing up I was a United fan." However, he also stressed that this does not offer him more motivation against them in matches.

"I just think to try and do the same thing each time," he explained. "But I’ve scored away and a few here today, so I’m buzzing.
"I just try and take each game as it comes and show the Chelsea fans and everyone what I came here to do and that is just play football." So while Palmer does have a soft spot for United dating back from childhood, don't expect him to be giving Ruud van Nistelrooy's team any mercy at Old Trafford.
