Worthing have revealed the new midfielder who can help them replace Kane Wills.

They have signed Joe Partington, 34, from St Albans.

Partington was at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium for Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat by Gosport.

He could now make his debut against the club he has just left when St Albans visit in Vanarama National League south this Saturday.

Having come through the youth set-up at Portsmouth, he has played in the EFL for Bournemouth and Bristol Rovers and helped Bromley win the FA Trophy at Wembley.

Wills will head to Dubai in the New Year and Worthing wanted a player to offer his sort of leadership and experience.

Head coach Chris Agutter believes he has found that, although recognising Partington is a slightly different type of midfielder.

Agutter said: “Parts has been there and done it, can play equally as effectively at centre-back and in midfield, and will add even more personality and leadership to the group.

“Taking the next step for us as a team is not about quality but about mentality and personality and Parts will more than bring that.”

Partington made more than 50 appearances for both Bournemouth, where he became their youngest ever goalscorer, and Bristol Rovers.

He has also played for Eastleigh, Aldershot, Farnborough and Wales under-21s.
