Summer signing Noussair Mazraoui felt Manchester United did enough to secure all three points following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

A game light on quality came alive as it entered the final 20 minutes, with United winning a penalty after striker Rasmus Hojlund was clattered inside the penalty area by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and sent Sanchez the wrong way, claiming his third goal in his last two matches and his first in the Premier League this season.

However, United's lead lasted just four minutes after Moises Caicedo fired home a brilliant equaliser to haul Enzo Maresca's men level.

United wasted a glorious chance to reclaim the lead through Fernandes late on, moments after Alejandro Garnacho had gone within a whisker of putting United back in front himself, but they failed to fire past Sanchez for a second time. And for Mazraoui, a draw was not a fair outcome.

"I don't agree," Mazraoui said, speaking to MUTV. "We fought really hard, but eventually, if you look at the game and the chances that we created, we deserved to win."

On a personal note, Mazraoui produced arguably his best showing in a United shirt since arriving from Bayern Munich in August. Starting at left-back, he enjoyed a solid afternoon's work.

"I did my best today and I was more involved in the attacking [play]," the Moroccan continued. "Lately, I have been more involved in the controlled things in the game.

"Eventually, it is my quality to also get involved in the attacking and support the wingers. That was what I could do today."

Assessing United's current situation, the defender added: "I think if you look at the table now you cannot say that is where we belong, and everybody knows that. We know that we have to step up and get away from there really, really fast.

"It is just not us. We have too much quality to be in this position."
