'A draw was a fair result': Stevenage boss assesses Reading draw after late goal

Stevenage boss Alex Revell believed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Reading was 'a fair result.'

Boro, sat 15th in League One, took the lead at the Lamex Stadium through Dan Kemp, but Harvey Knibbs deservedly equalised with eight minutes remaining after what had been a second half of significant pressure from the visitors.

Only a fifth away point of the campaign for Reading, Ruben Selles argued his side arguably could have won the match, with Knibbs and Chem Campbell both having efforts in stoppage time to steal the win.

However, former Rotherham United star Revell believes the final outcome was the correct one.

"I think it was probably a fair result," he told the club media. "In the first half we showed our energy, intensity and drive to go forwards, how high we were as a backline and defensively solid. We saw all of that in the first half and in the second half the levels dropped a little bit, from our point of view.

"We’ve got a lot of players coming back that haven’t played as much football as we would have liked them too and I think we saw that in the second half in terms of our energy levels and pressing and getting up the pitch. When you turnover the ball as much as we did- you allow a good team to grow into it. A draw was a fair result."

Reading do not return to league action until November 23 and host Newport County in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday before heading into an international break.
