Draymond Green's expectation for Jonathan Kuminga this season: 'Anything less than an All-Star is a failure for him'

“Score the basketball,” Green added about Kuminga to Burke. “[He] has to be a great scorer. He needs to be above 20 points per game, six [to] seven rebounds a night, and we need to win. Especially if you want to become a first-time All-Star. We know what he’s capable of and we believe in him. “Anything less than an All-Star is a failure for him.”

According to Cleaning the Glass, Kuminga played at power forward for 96% of his minutes last season. When Kuminga started at the three alongside Green and Jackson-Davis in their first preseason game, Kerr said the group was "not great," but there is a desire to have that combination work. "The combination of athleticism and rim protection, defensively, has a chance to be really good," Kerr said of that trio. "But it has to flow on the offensive side. We have to get spacing. We've got to make sure we can execute against what defenses will do against that group." -via ESPN / October 14, 2024

Golden State is trying to fill part of that void with new additions Hield, De'Anthony Melton and Kyle Anderson. They are also relying on younger players Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga to take on bigger roles. But the Warriors know no one can perfectly replicate what Thompson did. "It's just a different challenge at that two spot, but there's nothing really different we have to do," Curry told ESPN. "We just have to acknowledge what Klay, the skill set obviously, the shooting ability and the attention he attracts in everything on the floor." -via ESPN / October 14, 2024

The Warriors made 28 of their 52 3-point attempts, the most the team has ever made in a game. Jonathan Kuminga, when told of the stat, wore a surprised look on his face and said, "Really?" Golden State's regular-season 3-point record is 27, which it has reached twice. "I think almost all of them were good shots," Kerr said of the Warriors' performance Wednesday. -via ESPN / October 10, 2024
