Two Dumfries Wado-Kai Karate students had remarkable achievements at the dan grading examinations held at the Honbu Dojo, Dunfermline on Sunday.

Ron Carrick and Murray Paton, who are both students of chief instructor Allan McKean, achieved their new ranks Nidan (2nd dan) and Shodan (1st dan) respectively. What is so special about this is that Ron just turned 70 on November 18 and he only took up Wado-kai Karate aged 62, achieving his Shodan in March 2022. Ron shows that no matter what age you are, anything is achievable if you train hard and set yourself goals.
