Dunfermline eyed by US-based consortium in seven figure takeover with talks at advanced stage
An American-based consortium is looking to buy Dunfermline Athletic.
The US group is in talks to purchase a controlling stake in the Pars. DAFC Fussball GmbH announced in August that they were putting their majority shareholding up for sale. There have been several expressions of interest but the Americans are at an advanced stage and are keen on making a seven-figure purchase of the Scottish Championship outfit.
The interested group has experience in other sports and other associated businesses. Some of the individuals also have links to Scotland. The brief outline of a deal is close to being agreed. The offer would see them buy the club, training ground and the football operation. The deal will not include their home ground, which is currently owned by a separate group, East End Park Limited. DAFC Fussball GmbH have come in for some criticism for their lack of recent financial investments in James McPake’s first-team squad.

There are several obstacles still to be overcome before their departure can be rubber-stamped. Any new buyer would need to show proof of funding and satisfy the fit and proper person test set-out by the Scottish Football Association.
A number of Americans now own Scottish football clubs. Mark Ogren is in charge at Dundee United, Tim Keyes and John Nelms are at the Dundee helm and Adam Webb bought St Johnstone earlier this season.
