Tearful Luis Palma dedicated his deadly double for Honduras against Mexico to his beloved Grandmother, who passed away recently.

The Celtic star was the key man in his country's 2-0 win in the Nations League quarter-final first leg.

After the game, Palma brandished a t-shirt with the image of his loved one printed on it.

And the winger was visibly emotional as he spoke to the media after the game about the loss of a woman who was very important in his family life.

He said: "It has been a very emotional moment for me because two weeks ago I lost my grandmother, a very important person in my life who left a mark on me.

"I give honor and glory to God for this gift that he gave me and I hope that my granny is happy wherever she is."

The player was also delighted with his showing in the game that leaves Honduras in a strong position to reach the semi-finals while he also alluded to his tough spell back in Glasgow where he has struggled for matches.

He said: "There is another game left that will be more important than this one. I asked God for strength, I dreamed so much about this moment, these last few months have not been as I wanted and scoring two goals is a huge joy for me."
