"I want to make history."

A massive ambition to have when you are just 17 years old. And in most cases, people would probably laugh you out of the room, but not in Estevao Willian's case.

Signed in the summer for £29million, plus performance-related add-ons, Estevao will officially join Chelsea in the summer of 2025. The 17-year-old winger is spending this season with Palmeiras but will be all Chelsea's from the start of the 2025/26 season.

The Brazilian wide man, whose reputation in his homeland is phenomenal at such a young age, is hoping to help Palmeiras win their second successive title. With six games to go in the Brasileirao, Botafogo are the leaders in Brazil's top-flight but Palmeiras are only six points adrift.

Estevao has 11 goals and eight assists this season and has essentially become the talisman for Palmeiras despite not even being 18 yet. In the summer, though, it will be a whole different ball game for Estevao; with Chelsea the club he is looking to impress at.

"I want to make history and be the most successful Brazilian in the club's history," the teenage sensation said in an interview with Transfermarkt. "I want to win titles and show my full potential, show everything I can do."

Trying to fit into a physically demanding system under Enzo Maresca will be key. Having the talent that Estevao undoubtedly has is one thing - and it certainly helps - but hard work and determination are a requirement for someone like Maresca to choose you. Cole Palmer can attest to that.

Estevao, though, is not worried: "When you have a coach like Abel [Ferreira, from Palmeiras], you stop being afraid of anyone. With him, you go through all the stages. Abel is a guy who really pulls our ears. In the day-to-day, he is a European coach with a European profile. I learn a lot from him."

The teenager's life is going to change massively when he moves to London next summer but he wants some things to remain vaguely the same. Being so young, the Brazilian still has to complete his studies but is planning to take online classes rather than move to a school in the English capital.

And Estevao is very keen to learn English to help him settle in a new environment and culture. "I still have a long way to go before I finish school," Estevao continued. "I have one more year to go.

"I said, it's not easy. I'm going to have to study in London. But I'm not going to stay at the same school, I'm going to continue studying online. I will take English classes whenever I can because there are weeks with a lot of games that I can't play.

"I'm learning well. I'm dedicating myself a lot to learning the language."

He added: "I study online. I don't go to school anymore. The teachers send me the recorded classes and I watch them on my phone. They send me the activities, I do them and send them to them.

"And then I do the tests. It's all online. Sometimes there are tests and exercises on the eve of a game, or on the day of a game. Then there's no way around it, you have to study and do it.

"But the teachers help a lot. I can do everything on my cell phone, I don't have to use a notebook. That makes it much easier. But the guys on the team always joke around, tease me, and tell me that I need to study more."

In the summer of 2025, Estevao might need to study even more. Not in an academic sense, but learning the ins and outs of a Maresca style, so the enormously talented winger can make the best possible start at Chelsea.
