Evangelos Marinakis shows true colours with decision Morgan Gibbs-White won't like
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is helping Greece as they bid to beat England, even though Morgan Gibbs-White is in the Three Lions squad.
England face Greece in Athens in the Nations League on Thursday night (7:45pm) and Forest’s generous Greek owner Marinakis has allowed his home nation to use the training facility at his other club Olympiacos in a classy gesture ahead of the tie. Gibbs-White will be hoping to add to his first cap for England, having made his debut for his country against Ireland in the Nations League in September, as a substitute in a 2-0 win.
Greece boss Ivan Jovanovic made a point of thanking Marinakis, as he hatches a plan to beat England for a second time in the Nations League. “Thank you to Olympiacos president Mr Marinakis for allowing the national team to use their training centre in its entirety,” he said.
England lost 2-1 to Greece at Wembley last month, Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis scoring twice, either side of a goal from Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.
Interim England boss Lee Carsley’s final camp has been hit by an eye-watering nine withdrawals, boosting Gibbs-White's chances of playing in a match England must win to stand a chance of automatic promotion.
