Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:45

The full-time whistle finally sounds, and it's a huge victory for Everton in the fight for Premier League survival! Gueye gave the Toffees a first-half lead when Sels failed to get to his low shot from outside the box, and after Wood and Gibbs-White passed up glorious chances to level, McNeil doubled their advantage with a rasping drive from range with 76 minutes played. Everton move five points clear of 18th-placed Luton, but their victory wasn't without controversy, with Young somewhat fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty on three occasions. Expect to hear from Nuno on those incidents in the coming days, but Forest will also need to look closer to home – they are just one point clear of the relegation zone and have won one of their last nine Premier League games. With Manchester City up next for them, it could be a very nervy end to the season indeed. That's all from Goodison Park, we hope you've enjoyed our live coverage of this game and we'll see you next time!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:39

FULL-TIME: EVERTON 2-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:38

Chermiti is booked for delaying a Forest restart on halfway, and when the free-kick is floated into the Everton area, it runs all the way through for a goal-kick. Everton are nearly there!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:38

Forest load the box as Gibbs-White looks to cross, but his delivery is hoisted up into the air and Wood's header across the area is taken in easily by Pickford. While he has created a game-high three chances, Gibbs-White has not been at his best here, and his miss at 1-0 looks likely to prove costly.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:36

That was a chance for 3-0! Chermiti finds space on the right side of the Forest area, and he has McNeil in support in the centre. He tries to thread a pass through to the winger, but it's just cut out in front of him.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:33

With 101 minutes on the clock, we are back under way. We will get at least another five minutes or so – can Forest stage a rescue act?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:31

Yellow Card Murillo Santiago Costa dos Santos

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:31

Beto is carried off on the stretcher, giving a thumbs up to the fans as he receives applause from all four sides of the ground. We all wish him a speedy recovery. Chermiti comes on for the final stages.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:30

The play has been stopped for around four minutes now, with the medical staff taking great care with Beto's condition. We will play well beyond the allocated nine minutes of stoppage time.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:28

Chermiti is stripped and ready to replace Beto, who certainly won't be able to continue. Gibbs-White, meanwhile, will continue after leaving the pitch for a brief moment, per the protcols.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:27

Gibbs-White is sitting up and appears to be okay, but the stretcher is on the pitch for Beto, who is still down and receiving medical attention.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:25

There's a very nasty clash of heads between Gibbs-White and Beto, after Ribeiro just fails to bring a bouncing ball under his spell inside the Everton box. The medical teams were quickly onto the pitch, and both players are receiving treatment.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:24

Harrison catches Aina near the corner flag, but the referee wisely opts against showing the Everton man a second yellow card. It was a foul, nothing more.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:24

Well, that hasn't gone down well among the Everton fans. We will have a minimum of NINE minutes of stoppage time. Can Forest make it a nervy finale?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:23

We're about to find out how much stoppage time will be played, as Elanga hangs up a threatening cross. It's just out of reach for Origi, though, as Branthwaite stoops to head it clear. Everton have defended their penalty area so well.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:21

Williams is sent tumbling over the advertising hoardings on the far side of the pitch following a tussle with McNeil. That looked like a painful fall, the Forest man dropping backwards into the front row, but he's okay to continue after receiving treatment.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:20

Forest win another deep free-kick, with Gibbs-White drilling it towards substitute Ribeiro. Pickford is off his line bravely, though, to punch it clear.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:19

It's time for Forest to throw caution to the wind, with Aina hurling a long throw into the heart of the Everton box. Tarkowski is beneath it to clear, though, and nothing comes of Aina's subsequent ball back into the area. It doesn't look like happening for the visitors.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:18

Before this game, Forest had only won one of their last eight Premier League games against Everton (two draws, five defeats), with that victory coming at Goodison Park in January 1999 under Ron Atkinson (1-0). They look set to endure more misery against the Toffees, barring a stunning turn of events in the final five minutes plus stoppage time.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:17

Everton are getting so much joy on the break now. McNeil turns on halfway before threading a throughball between the Forest centre-backs, sending Beto racing towards goal. Niakhate slides in to dispossess him, and though the home fans appeal for a free-kick, it was a fair tackle.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:13

Yellow Card Ryan James Yates

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:13

Yellow Card Jack David Harrison

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:13

Another Forest penalty appeal, but there's nothing in this one. Wood backs into Tarkowski before attempting an overhead kick, which strikes the Everton man in the face and bounces to safety. There's a quick VAR check to ascertain whether Tarkowski had a hold of Wood, but both men were wrestling for the loose ball.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:11

Yellow Card Jarrad Paul Branthwaite

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:10

Substitution Callum James Hudson-Odoi Divock Okoth Origi

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:10

Substitution Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira Rodrigo Duarte Ribeiro

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:10

Goodison is in fine voice now as Everton fly forward down the left wing! McNeil shoots and Sels spills it, but he holds at the second attempt. Forest look shell-shocked.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:10

Substitution Nicolás Martín Domínguez Ryan James Yates

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:07

Forest's momentum has definitely slowed in the last five minutes or so. They've still only had one shot – which missed the target from Gibbs-White – since half-time!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:07

Goal Dwight James Matthew McNeil

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:05

Everton have a great chance to break as Taylor plays advantage for a foul on Harrison. However, Doucoure's pass for McNeil is way too heavy and the chance is gone! There's very little composure on display from anyone on the pitch at present.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:05

Yellow Card Abdoulaye Doucouré

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:04

It should be remembered that Everton have also played one game fewer than Forest, whose only remaining home games are against Manchester City and Chelsea. Nuno's team really need to rally in the next 18 minutes plus stoppage time…

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:04

Great defending! Harrison does brilliantly on the Everton right, turning Aina inside-out before crossing. McNeil is arriving, hoping for a tap-in, but Williams comes across on the slide to clear and deny Everton a second goal!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:02

Danger! Forest have men over as they break down the right-hand side, but Elanga's ball is out of Wood's reach and is cut out in front of Hudson-Odoi! Forest need more composure in the final third.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

15:01

You could cut the tension inside Goodison Park with a knife. Everybody present knows the importance of taking three points here, and damaging the hopes of a fellow struggler in the process. You get the sense Forest are just working up to a big push in the final 20 minutes.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:58

Each of Everton's last 10 Premier League home wins have been to nil, with the Toffees failing to win any of their last 22 at Goodison Park when conceding (five draws, 17 defeats). Their clean sheet should have been snatched away by Gibbs-White a few minutes ago, but he fluffed his lines.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:57

Substitution André Filipe Tavares Gomes James David Garner

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:57

Substitution Dominic Nathaniel Calvert-Lewin Norberto Bercique Gomes Betuncal

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:56

Just 8.9 per cent of the action has taken place in Forest's third in the last five minutes, with 37.8 per cent occurring in Everton's final third. The hosts are coming under more pressure and need an outlet of some sort.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:55

Forest are dialling up the pressure now. Williams' low cross is just behind Wood and Everton can scramble it clear, but the visitors come again through Hudson-Odoi. He looks for Danilo on the underlap, and he's not tracked by anyone in blue, but Hudson-Odoi's pass runs too long and goes behind.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:55

It looks as though there's been a change of heart in that Everton dugout. Calvert-Lewin re-enters the fray and will attempt to run that knock off.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:53

There's another injury concern for Everton now as Calvert-Lewin stays down. Beto looks primed to enter the fray as his fellow striker receives treatment.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:52

HUGE MISS FROM GIBBS-WHITE! That should've been the leveller! Murillo picks out his team-mate with a clever flat ball, with catches out Everton's high line. With Pickford bearing down on him, Gibbs-White shapes to bend the ball into the far corner, but he doesn't apply enough curl and it sails wide. What a chance.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:51

Branthwaite is back on after receiving treatment and will be fine to continue. Everton can't afford to lose their rising defensive star at such a crucial time.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:50

Now there's a break in play as Branthwaite goes down on halfway after being caught late by Williams. Forest didn't want to kick the ball out, but Taylor eventually made the decision for them – he is not a popular man with the travelling fans.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:49

Another penalty appeal against Young! Hudson-Odoi breaks in behind Young, who is caught ball-watching. He recovers with a desperate sliding challenge just as Hudson-Odoi looks to pull the trigger, and the visiting fans scream for a spot-kick. Again, Young may be fortunate... he went through the back of his man there, but the VAR has already cleared the incident.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:47

MASSIVE CHANCE! Everton should be 2-0 up! A red shirt drops to the ground inside a packed six-yard box, but the whistle doesn't sound and Tarkowski nods McNeil's corner delivery down. Calvert-Lewin finds space to volley at goal, but he slices it wide of the left post! He should have buried that opportunity!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:46

Young breaks forward before finding Harrison to his right, and the Leeds United loanee tip-toes into the area before winning a corner off Aina. What can Everton produce from this, their first set-piece opportunity of the second half?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:44

Here comes the Forest change we thought might occur at half-time. Elanga is on to play on the right flank, with Reyna making way.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:44

Forest, meanwhile, have won just eight points from losing positions. Only Burnley (two), Everton, Sheffield United (both four), Fulham and Newcastle United (both six) have fought back to win fewer points.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:44

Everton have dropped 12 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, with only Aston Villa (five), Liverpool (six), Fulham (seven), Arsenal (nine) and Manchester City (10) giving up fewer.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:43

Good defending! Wood's flick-on briefly looks to have sent Hudson-Odoi clean through in the left channel, but Mykolenko races back to slow the winger down, then Branthwaite contorts his body to head his subsequent cross clear.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:40

According to Opta's live win probability model, Everton have a 67.2 per cent chance of seeing this lead out and taking three points. Forest are given just a 9.1 per cent chance of turning it around, and a 23.7 per cent chance of earning a point. They simply need to take something, or it will be a nervy few weeks at the City Ground.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:40

Pickford does well to prevent a Forest corner after Tarkowski heads Hudson-Odoi's cross up into the air. If Everton hold on for three points, his 40th-minute save to deny Wood will be viewed as a crucial moment.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:38

No changes for either side at half-time, which is somewhat surprising. Had Coleman been available to Dyche, Young may well have been hooked after being fortunate to avoid conceding two penalties. For Forest, it surely won't be long until we see Elanga introduced.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:37

We're back under way for a huge 45 minutes at Goodison, as Gomes gets the ball rolling for the hosts!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:27

It has been a game of few chances, with Forest creating a total of 0.36 expected goals (xG) to their hosts' 0.11, also leading the way for shots (five to three), shots on target (three to two), and touches inside the area (12 to two). The Toffees won't mind those stats one bit, given they are ahead, but can they hold out for another 45 minutes to boost their survival hopes?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:25

The half-time whistle sounds at Goodison Park, where Everton are primed to land a huge blow in the battle for Premier League survival. Gueye's goal is the difference, the midfielder sending a low strike skidding into the bottom-left corner from outside the box, with Forest goalkeeper Sels possibly unsighted. Pickford kept Everton's lead intact with a terrific reaction save to deny Wood five minutes before the break, and another talking point arrived on the stroke of half-time as Young appeared to block Hudson-Odoi's cross with his hand. No penalty was the decision, and Forest – who have seen their fair share of decisions go against them lately – were furious. Nuno needs a big team talk now, with the second half on the way shortly!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:22

HALF-TIME: EVERTON 1-0 NOTTINGHAM FOREST.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:21

Calvert-Lewin heads Danilo's first corner behind for another, and the Brazilian's next delivery is a poor one that lands on the roof of the net. That will be that for the first half!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:20

Before the corner can be taken, Taylor heads to the Forest dugout to show a yellow card to Nuno's assistant Rui Pedro Silva. The visitors feel they should have had a spot-kick for that Young handball. What will the club's referee analyst Mark Clattenburg make of all this?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:19

Everton are furious as Taylor doesn't stop the game despite Tarkowski going down with a head injury from a corner, but they manage to smuggle it behind for another Forest set-piece. Danilo will take this one as we enter two minutes of stoppage time.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:18

There's another BIG penalty appeal against Young! Hudson-Odoi looks to volley a deep delivery back across goal, and the ball strikes Young's outstretched arm. Anthony Taylor doesn't give the spot-kick, and a background VAR check quickly clears the incident. Young has been fortunate twice now…

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:17

Forest are enjoying a better spell now. Gibbs-White sees a teasing cross headed clear by Branthwaite, but the visitors keep the pressure on through Hudson-Odoi. However, his second ball into the box just runs too long for any of the red shirts lurking there, and Pickford makes the claim.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:14

'England's number one' is the chant from the home fans after that Pickford save, which he celebrated like a goal! Forest can't believe they didn't draw level there.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:14

BRILLIANT SAVE BY PICKFORD! How have Forest not scored?! Wood nods a long ball down for Reyna, who helps it into the path of Gibbs-White. From the right side of the box, Gibbs-White shanks his volley into the ground and off-target, but Wood is there to blast it towards goal. Pickford makes himself big to smother the shot, then catches Hudson-Odoi's subsequent cross. Huge save!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:13

Young steps into midfield to chop Hudson-Odoi down after a scrappy bit of play, and though the free-kick is awarded, there will be no further punishment. Forest simply need to slow things down and enjoy a sustained spell in possession.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:10

Doucoure looks for Calvert-Lewin with an ambitious ball infield from the right, but it's overhit and Forest can restart with a goal-kick. Since the goal, it's been all Everton.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:10

McNeil is holding his lower back after being shoved to the ground by Williams. Everton can feel hard-done-by to not receive a free-kick there, but at least their winger will be able to carry on.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:09

Nothing comes of Everton's latest set-piece as the Forest backline holds firm to clear not once, but twice. However, Nuno's men simply can't get out at the moment, as a long ball up the line runs too long for Gibbs-White.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:08

Everton are well on top now! Harrison finds McNeil with a cute pass infield, and the former Burnley man looks to return the favour with his reverse pass. Murillo pokes out a leg to block it and is somewhat relieved to see it roll wide of Sels' right-hand post. Another corner for Everton.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:07

Of the 17 ever-present sides in the Premier League since the start of last season, Forest have won the fewest away games (three), earned the fewest away points (18), lost the most away games (23), scored the fewest away goals (28) and conceded the most away goals (78 after Gueye's strike). Will it be another miserable away day for them?

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:06

Now then, what have Forest got in terms of a response? Nuno looks agitated on the sidelines. His team have shown some bright link-up play in midfield, but they've been dominated physically and penned back for long periods.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:05

Everton needed that. After a couple of nervy moments for Pickford at the other end, Gueye gives them the advantage. As things stand, the Toffees are set to move five points clear of the bottom three!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:02

Almost! Hudson-Odoi drives in from the left before shooting low, and Pickford spills it. Wood is lurking for a tap-in, but the England number one reacts to dive on the loose ball!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:01

CHANCE! That's as close as Everton have come. McNeil finds space to cross from the left, and Calvert-Lewin is totally unmarked as he meets it at the far post. His header is tame, though, and Sels can hold it with ease.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:01

Goal Idrissa Gana Gueye

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

14:00

Pickford gets away with a huge error! The Everton goalkeeper sends a rushed kick straight to Gibbs-White just outside his own area, but the midfielder's touch is poor and two blue shirts converge on him before he can look to slip in Wood. There are plenty of nerves around Goodison, on and off the pitch!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:58

Having seen a replay of that penalty appeal, Young may have been slightly fortunate. He certainly kicked through the back of Reyna's foot, though the American's fall was theatrical to say the least.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:58

Penalty appeal! Danilo drives towards the Everton area, and though a blue shirt gets a foot in, the loose ball breaks to Reyna. He goes down under Young's challenge from behind, just inside the box, but the referee waves play on and a background VAR check swiftly clears the incident.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:57

Gibbs-White involves Hudson-Odoi on the Forest left, but Everton quickly flood nine outfielders back behind the ball. Forest will have to work hard to break their hosts down here.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:54

For all their hard work off the ball and the set-piece chances Forest have gifted them, Everton are yet to record a single touch inside their opponents' area. That simply has to change if they are to win this six-pointer.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:53

Over! Everton keep the pressure on and Murillo only heads a cross as far as Mykolenko, but the full-back is off-balance as he shoots and his effort flies into the stand behind Sels' goal.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:53

… But Everton aren't taking advantage. Gomes comes up with his third dismal set-piece delivery in the space of 19 minutes, barely getting the ball off the ground as his cross strikes the wall. He knows that was poor, holding his hands up to apologise to the fans!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:51

Everton will have another set-piece chance, as Niakhate goes through the back of Calvert-Lewin near the left corner of the Forest box. The visitors are causing their own problems here…

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:50

Just over 38 per cent of the action has taken place in Forest's third so far, with Everton playing with plenty of intensity but just lacking quality in advanced areas. Another promising move is halted as Gomes takes a heavy touch, loses possession, and fouls Williams.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:49

So frustrating! Branthwaite steals possession and sets off on a terrific run, carrying the ball about 50 yards before offloading to Calvert-Lewin. The Everton striker hoists a cross into the area, but there's nobody there as Doucoure holds off on making a run!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:48

Wow... Gomes sends an absolutely terrible free-kick sailing over Sels' crossbar, attracting ironic cheers from the travelling fans. Tarkowski and Branthwaite were up, but Everton wasted that opportunity.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:47

It's good defending from Murillo to get back ahead of Calvert Lewin, but Everton keep the pressure on and Williams catches Gomes with a wild high boot on the left flank. That'll be a free-kick, and another chance for the hosts to load the penalty area.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:45

The home fans are again displeased as referee Anthony Taylor denies them a free-kick for handball, with appeals going up as Dominguez blocks Harrison's attempted ball over the top. Everton are growing into this game now.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:43

We've played 10 minutes here, and Pickford's save to deny Williams is the closest either team has come to opening the scoring. The home fans are frustrated as Niakhate stays down following a collision with Calvert-Lewin, who inadvertently caught his marker with his elbow.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:42

McNeil's corner is put behind for another on the opposite flank. Gomes comes across to take this one, but it's a terrible delivery that is easily cleared at the near post.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:41

Including penalties, Forest have scored both the joint fewest total goals (six) and the lowest percentage of their goals (14 per cent) from set-pieces in the Premier League this season. They have also conceded the highest number of goals (25) and highest percentage (43 per cent) of goals from set-plays. Everton have another corner as Wood heads Pickford's hoisted free-kick delivery behind.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:40

Niakhate heads Harrison's cross behind for a corner as Everton come forward for the first time. Set-pieces could be crucial for the hosts, but this one comes to nothing as Gomes fouls Wood at the back post.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:38

SAVE! More good combination play involving Gibbs-White and Reyna ends with the latter sweeping the ball wide to Williams, who isolates Mykolenko one-on-one. He shoots early from the edge of the box, and Pickford beats it away before Everton complete the clearance.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:37

Danger! Forest come forward as Gibbs-White finds space between the lines, with the former Wolves man picking out Williams on the right side of the area. He sends a low cross into the six-yard box, but it's cleared after a desperate scramble. Good start from the visitors.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:36

Sels comes under pressure from Calvert Lewin and has to go long, but a mix-up between two blue shirts allows Dominguez to seize the loose ball and feed Gibbs-White. Fortunately for the hosts, Branthwaite is quickly on the scene to cut out the danger.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:35

These are two clubs united by a sense of injustice after receiving points deductions for breaching the Premier League's financial rules, but there will be no camaraderie on show here – both teams simply must start picking up points to pull clear of the bottom three!

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

13:33

We are under way amid a rousing atmosphere at Goodison as Gibbs-White gets the ball rolling for Forest. You feel this match could just be season-defining for both teams!
