Ex-Arsenal star reveals next step in drastic career change after Fulham transfer
Alex Iwobi has brought out a follow-up project to his historic debut single which came out this summer.
Iwobi, 28, became the first Premier League footballer to release a song - officially - under his name when doing so earlier this year. That track, titled 'Don't Shoot', features fellow Arsenal academy graduate Chuba Akpom, who goes by the artist name Scoli, and former England youth international Medy Elito, aka Don EE.
But this second single, 'What's Luv?', sees Iwobi collaborate with close friend SPKS and another artist in MBrown. '17', the shirt number the player wore for Everton and the Gunners, and now does so for Fulham and Nigeria, is his moniker, but the midfielder still puts his name and face to the singles.
"Music has always been a passion of mine and a way for me to express myself away from football; music is a great tool, and I've always used that as a productive way to share how I feel," Iwobi said. "Historically, no Premier League player has brought out music with their name and face attached to it [a masked rapper called Dide claims to play in the top-flight], but I like to be different and make a difference."

"Growing up in an area of London that is challenging for some people - [Iwobi grew up in Newham] - I know how hard it can be, and I'm grateful to have a platform to try and make a difference. Alongside the work we do in the community, I hope that my music is another way of proving that young people do not have to feel they have to fit in just one box. I want them to be encouraged to achieve their dreams and to put their focus into positive things.
"Creating music doesn't take anything away from my football; it helps me switch off. I will always work hard and try to improve in my sport, but this is a good use of my spare time."
