Former Sunderland loanee Edouard Michut has joined Fortuna Sittard. The 21-year-old midfielder was at the Stadium of Light on loan from Paris St Germain in 2022.

Now he has signed a three-year deal for Dutch club Fortuna having been without a club since departing Adana Demirspor in the summer.

Michut kicked off his career at PSG where he rose through the ranks in the youth academy before featuring eight times for the first team. In the summer of 2022 he joined Championship side Sunderland on loan. He impressed at the Stadium of Light, making 28 appearances across all competitions.

“I’m happy to be on the field with team-mates again,” Michut said via the club website. “In recent periods I have had good conversations with Americo Branco and trainer Danny Buijs, so I am sure that Fortuna is a wonderful next step in my career.”

Fortuna currently sit seventh in the Eredivisie table, winning five of their opening 11 games. Meanwhile, former Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Now with Carlisle United, the former Black Cats man sustained a left ankle fracture/dislocation and requires surgery on the injury. Wyke came on as a half time substitute during Saturday’s game against Cheltenham but had to be replaced shortly afterwards.
