Ex-Town boss on 'shortlist' for League One vacancy
Former Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy is one of the managers shortlisted by League One outfit Shrewsbury Town to take over their vacancy, according to reports.
Last week, Paul Hurst was sacked by Shrewsbury following their difficult start to the campaign in which they won just twice in 19 games across all competitions, with the FA Cup exit to Salford City proving the final straw.
The club presently bottom of League One, according to Alan Nixon, have shortlisted Kennedy along with Dino Maamria and Andy Crosby.
However, the Shropshire Star believes that former Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth is the favourite to take over from Hurst having left Queens Park Rangers last season – although a deal has not yet been agreed.
Kennedy lasted just 13 league matches in charge of Swindon, winning twice in League Two, and was replaced by Ian Holloway in late October but is now being linked with a second role in League One, having also been one of the betting favourites for the Burton Albion job.
Shrewsbury are reportedly looking for an experienced candidate to come in and help with their fight against relegation from the third tier, with the club six points from safety having lost four on the bounce.
