There were some thrilling matches in the FA Cup fifth-round action that truly lived up to the hype.

Liverpool faced a challenging situation due to injuries during their FA Cup fifth-round match against Southampton. Some of their key players, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunes, were unavailable.

However, Liverpool's youngsters Jayden Dann and Lewis Koumas played exceptionally well and secured a 3-0 win, which advanced the Reds to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.

Manchester United faced an unexpected loss against Fulham at Old Trafford in the Premier League but bounced back. The Red Devils struggled against Nottingham Forest, and the match remained goalless at The City Ground for most of the regular time. However, Casemiro scored a late goal in the 89th minute, ending the scoreless draw and getting the victory for United.

Chelsea secured their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a late goal from Conor Gallagher, extending Chelsea to a 3-2 win and avoiding extra time against Leeds United.

FA Cup picks and predictions

Gabriel Zaldivar, USA Today Editor: Blues, Liverpool, and United to advance

Zaldivar writes: "Chelsea hasn't been given much of a chance as of late, but Wednesday is going to be one of those feel-good days for the top-flight teams. It's a walk for the Blues, Liverpool and United. Although Manchester will struggle to crack Nottingham, they should reach the quarters in the end."

Elizabeth Flores, USA Today Sports Reporter: Wolves to put on a show

Flores writes: "I expect Wolverhampton Wanderers to maintain their Premier League momentum and put on a great performance against Brighton & Hove Albion to advance to the FA Cup quarter-finals. In the other matches of the day, I predict that Chelsea will easily beat Leeds United to secure a spot in the quarter-finals. Manchester United will be looking to redeem themselves after their loss to Fulham dropped them on the EPL table, but they will come into their match against Nottingham Forest with a strong determination to win. Despite Liverpool's injury issues and doubts surrounding their line-up, I believe they will still manage to beat Southampton and advance."

Jack McKessy, USA Today Sports Reporter: United will get revenge on Nottingham

McKessy writes: "Southampton and Leeds United may give the two EFL Cup finalists a run for their money on Wednesday, but expect the Premier League teams -- Chelsea and Liverpool -- to advance to the quarterfinals when all is said and done. Brighton can keep the good times rolling at Molineux, where they've only lost to Wolves once since 2006, including in EFL Championship competitions. United will get revenge on Nottingham Forest -- the team that handed them their last defeat, in December, prior to Saturday's last-minute loss to Fulham."
