Fabian Schar's Newcastle United future mapped out with 'uncomplicated' talks planned
Newcastle United are planning to extend Fabian Schar's contract - and the Swiss defender is ready and willing to continue his spell at St James' Park until at least 2026.
Schar's current deal expires in the summer but Newcastle chiefs, prompted by Eddie Howe, are ready to tie down the centre-back, along with triggering extensions for Sean Longstaff and Emil Krafth, in the coming months. This, after Schar's defensive partner Burn quietly put pen to paper earlier in the season.
"I feel super comfortable at Newcastle, I've been playing for years and I have a coach who backs me," Schar told Blue Sport this week. "Everything is right for me. I would love to stay. The club and coach know what they have in me.

"Basically, it's always happened relatively quickly in recent years. The club wanted to keep me, I wanted to stay. That's why it was never a big deal. There are more complicated cases than mine."
Howe has tried his best to reduce the amount of emotional exits each and every summer, keeping a huge bulk of pre-takeover stars in and around the club for the past three years. Schar, who was signed for just £3m back in 2018, has not only survived any senior squad cull but thrived under the Newcastle boss' leadership, nailing down a first-team spot in the process.
With a new-look transfer team working behind the scenes at St James' Park after a hectic summer of boardroom movement, Howe has stressed he is keen to tie down as many expiring contracts as possible to avoid losing players on a free.
“I think we want the players at their best, and we want to protect the asset value of the individual player as well," he recently said. "To replace any player that is in and around our squad is going to cost us a lot of money, so we’ve got to be very careful with those decisions.”
