Finn Azaz has summed up the confidence in the Middlesbrough dressing room now, as he says they genuinely believe they can win every game they play.

Boro have had a mixed start to the season and Saturday's victory over Luton Town was just the second time so far this season that they've managed to win back-to-back league games. That ultimately explains why they've spent the early part of the season looking up to the positions they ultimately want to occupy.

However, in general, performances have been at a high level, with Michael Carrick's side struggling for an end product to turn the positives into results. But there are signs that could be turning for Boro with a newfound belief among the players, which was clearly seen in the 5-1 victory.

Summing up the mood after, Azaz said: “I don’t think anything’s changed really. We try and always be consistent with our performances and I believe we have been doing that. This is a tough league so results aren’t always easy to come by. We’ve just got to stay consistent, stay positive and hopefully we continue to get the rewards for that.

“We’re buzzing to get the win going into an international break. It was a really good performance. We’ll enjoy the win and enjoy the goals. I think the goals have been coming, so it’s nice to get five. We go into every game trying to win and it is really important to back up a win with another.

"Performances have largely been good and the results feel like they’re starting to pick up. I feel like we can take a lot of confidence from this and win more. We back ourselves to beat anyone on our day. I think we’ve shown over the course of the season we can do that. We have to just take it game by game and see where it takes us.”

Azaz scored twice in the game in what was an excellent individual performance from the Ireland international. His first was an excellent finish as he profited from an excellent Ben Doak run and cutback. His second was trademark Azaz and one he's been waiting a while to score in a Boro shirt, as he fired one from the corner of the box into the far top corner.

He reflected: “The first goal, give Doaky his due, it was a really good assist. The second one, I just didn’t really think about it. I’ve scored a few like that in my career, so it was really nice that it went in. I haven’t scored one like that in a while, so it was nice to get that one today."
