Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder signs short-term deal in League Two

Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder, Corry Evans, has signed for League Two side Bradford City.

The midfielder had been without a club since leaving Sunderland in the summer. Evans suffered a long-term knee injury which ended his career with the Black Cats but he's now fit again.

Evans had spent eight years at Blackburn Rovers before joining Sunderland in 2021. Having been out for 15 months, it's been a long journey back for the Northern Ireland international, who has 72 caps for his country.

However, he's now been given his opportunity in League Two. A spate of injuries in midfield for the Bantams has seen them now sign up the experienced 34-year-old on a deal until January.

Evans said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to join Bradford City. It’s a massive club with a passionate fanbase, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Bradford City manager Graham Alexander added: "We’re bringing Corry in on a short-term deal to help us with his experience and quality. He’s another option in the midfield that can complement the personnel we already have in there."

Evans will be up against his former team-mate Bradley Dack in a few weeks when Gillingham face Bradford on October 19.
