Former Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC player heading to Hull KR
Former Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC player Leon Ruan is heading for Hull Kingston Rovers if he is successful in a trial period with the club, which will start when Rovers' pre-season begins in late-November.
The 21-year-old prop, who is also capable of playing in the back row, has been released by Leeds with a year left on his contract by mutual agreement so he can explore his options for next season. He is set to team up with another Leeds player who has left them at the end of the 2024 campaign, Rhyse Martin, who is currently on international duty with Papua New Guinea.
Ruan played for Hull FC on loan in the latter stages of last season amid injury problems for that club, having had similar stints with Doncaster and Halifax during last year. He had initially joined the Rhinos after impressing for a Doncaster side led by former Hull FC player Richard Horne ahead of the 2023 season. His last Leeds appearance, his sixth of the season, was away against Catalans Dragons in May.
