Former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay showed his appreciation to Napoli manager Antonio Conte after scoring the winner against Torino on Sunday.

The Scotland international departed Old Trafford in the summer as Ineos looked to drum up funds for previous boss Erik ten Hag. While the Dutchman admitted he did not want to lose McTominay, he insisted that it was the right decision because of the monetary gains United could make from selling one of their homegrown players.

Completing the McTominay deal with Napoli meant the Reds could seal their move for defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte who has since made three Premier League starts. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has become a mainstay in Conte's team and has bagged four goals this season for the Naples club.

After bagging his latest this weekend, McTominay took the opportunity to thank Conte as he led celebrations over to the Italian on the touchline. On social media after the match, McTominay wrote: "Forza Napoli Sempre," to which Bruno Fernandes replied: "What a player," while Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans also congratulated him.

Victory for Napoli continued what has been a great start to their campaign in Italy. McTominay's side now sit four points clear at the top of Serie A however they have played a game more than Atalanta, Inter and Fiorentina who all sit level on points behind them.

Fiorentina and Inter were due to play each other on Sunday but their game was suspended at 0-0 after the former's midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch. Bove has since regained consciousness after being rushed to intensive care.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was among those to send their well wishes to the Fiorentina player.
