Four Chelsea players Thomas Tuchel could sign if Man United complete appointment

Thomas Tuchel

Manchester United could be set for a Chelsea raid if Thomas Tuchel takes over at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is currently in the hot seat, but with the Red Devils struggling to secure a top-four finish, his future remains uncertain. United are currently 13 points adrift of the Champions League places with just four games remaining and are perilously close to slipping out of the top seven altogether.

Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has remained tight-lipped about Ten Hag's future, fuelling speculation that a change could be on the horizon this summer. Our sister title, the Manchester Evening News understands that Ratcliffe is not entirely convinced by Ten Hag and may look elsewhere for a new manager.

One name that has been mentioned is outgoing Bayern Munich boss Tuchel, who is set to leave the Bundesliga champions this summer after parting ways with Chelsea last year following disagreements with Todd Bohely. During his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel brought in 11 players, some of whom could potentially follow him to Manchester if he were to take the reins.

Trevoh Chalobah

The young defender could be one of several academy graduates to leave this summer as Boehly looks to balance the books. United are reportedly in the market for a young centre-back, and 24-year-old Chalobah fits the bill.

However, the England under-21 international would likely need an experienced partner alongside him and would probably be seen as a backup option. Only if he is available for a bargain price should United consider making a move.

Conor Gallagher

Another product of the Chelsea academy, Gallagher could be on United's radar if they lose a midfielder this summer. The 24-year-old has demonstrated his quality and maturity in a lacklustre Chelsea season, potentially offering an upgrade on Mason Mount.

While a move to United seems improbable under the current circumstances, the departure of a player like Scott McTominay or Christian Eriksen could create an opportunity.

Marc Cucurella

Cucurella was brought to Chelsea by Tuchel, but his future at the club is uncertain despite Ben Chilwell's ongoing injury problems. He's been a constant presence in the last eight Premier League matches, but has only contributed to two clean sheets during that time.

United currently have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as left-back options. However, Malacia hasn't played all season due to complications from major knee surgery last summer, and his place in the squad wouldn't be guaranteed under Tuchel, who might prefer a more familiar backup for Shaw. Cucurella was considered by United last summer before they opted for Tottenham's Sergio Reguilon instead.

Carney Chukwuemeka

Chukwuemeka, another Tuchel recruit, has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea due to injuries and a crowded squad. He's made just 27 appearances in his two seasons at the club, with only four starts, having missed 35 matches due to various setbacks.

Despite his injury woes, the 20-year-old's impressive record of ten goals and eight assists in 26 appearances for Aston Villa's youth team, demonstrates his potential. He could be a valuable addition to support Kobbie Mainoo in the future.

However, it's worth noting that this signing does carry a certain level of risk.
