Fraser Forster Celtic transfer return option floated as 'interesting' option

Neil Lennon has floated the "interesting" option of yet another Fraser Forster Celtic return with Joe Hart set to retire.

The Hoops are in desperate need of a goalkeeper to replace the outgoing Hart and have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks. Alex McCarthy, the Southampton stopper, is the latest link while the likes of Etienne Vaessen, Ugurcan Cakir and even Motherwell's Liam Kelly have all been noted.

Forster has had two spells in Glasgow previously and Lennon knows how vital he was for him as manager at the time where the big man lifted seven trophies and played Champions League football.

And now his former manager believes, with his deal at Tottenham expiring in the summer, he could be an intriguing candidate for the gig.

"It's interesting for Celtic," Lenny told PLZ. "I would be surprised if Matt O'Riley didn't have suitors in the summer. So Joe (Hart) is leaving. Matt is leaving. Those have been the two most consistent players this season, so Celtic have a bit of work to do.

"They need a really top number one. That is where you build your best teams from. I know from my own time with Fraser Forster that it's a precious commodity."

When host Peter Martin suggested Forster's contract situation this summer, Lennon added: "He might be (available). I don't know if he would come back a third time but it would be interesting."
