Fresh injury concern over Blues midfielder Robson
Carlisle United have a fresh hamstring injury concern over midfielder Ethan Robson.
The 28-year-old is set for a scan after feeling some discomfort in training.
Robson is currently one game into a three-game suspension and United are keeping everything crossed that he will not be missing for longer.
The summer signing only returned from a pre-season hamstring injury last month.
He had been due to play in Tuesday night’s Bristol Street Motors Trophy victory at Morecambe but was not involved in the squad.
And head coach Mike Williamson later told the News & Star: “He felt something on Monday.
“We’ll get it scanned and keep our fingers crossed for him.
“He felt something in the hamstring. But I don’t want to speculate on what it is [in terms of the extent of the problem].
“We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Robson has made four appearances since returning to fitness last month, before being shown a straight red card in the FA Cup first round defeat to Wigan Athletic.
That led to a three-match suspension, the former Sunderland, MK Dons and Blackpool player having sat out last weekend’s League Two win at Salford City.
He would have been able to play at Morecambe with that competition treated as stand-alone for suspensions, with Robson next due to miss league games against Bromley and Doncaster Rovers.
Williamson will also be without the suspended midfielder Harrison Neal at Bromley, with defender Terell Thomas another player missing after his latest Saint Lucia international call-up.
“We’ve got a few issues, but that’s nothing new,” said the Blues boss.
“This is the job and the industry and there's always things that are coming up.
“That’s where the squad comes into it, and reflecting on the performance and the result on Tuesday, that was really promising.”
