EMILY SENIOR was 'frustrated' as York City Ladies were beaten 2-0 by Huddersfield Town Women's on Sunday.

With two games in hand, York are now bottom of the FA Women's National League Division One North following defeat to Huddersfield, who are sitting comfortably in fifth position.

A first-half opener from Scarlett McMahon saw the Terriers head into half-time ahead, before an own goal from a City player confirmed the three points for the hosts.

Senior confessed her frustration following the full-time whistle, telling club media: "We're frustrated, really frustrated.

"We've come away with no points but in large parts of the game, we have dominated play, and that's frustrating.

"I can see the progress, it's my third game in with the girls and the progress is huge, particularly in possession, it's outstanding.

"We've gifted two silly goals away today, and the girls know that it's cost us.

"Ultimately, that is how you lose football matches.

"It's a frustrating one, but we move forward."

Huddersfield started the contest brightly as former York forward Ella Duffield bent an effort narrowly wide of Becky Sidwell's goal.

Another effort was pulled wide by a Huddersfield winger, before the hosts took an early lead.

A dangerous ball across the box fell into the path of McMahon, who rifled an effort past Sidwell to hand Town their advantage.

The Minsterbelles looked to immediately respond as Katie Astle fed Grace Sykes possession, but the City striker was thwarted by Kacey Bolton-Woollam.

Astle was soon denied by the Huddersfield shot-stopper, before again latching onto an error from within the home defence, only for Bolton-Woollam to continue an impressive performance with another save.

With just over an hour played, the hosts would double their advanatge.

A defensive mishap allowed Yasmin Mason to deliver into the area, with a touch from a York defender deflecting past Sidwell.

Ocean Rolandsen would have another strike kept out by Bolton-Woollam, with City unable to salvage anything from a defeat on the road.
