Full Liverpool squad available for Leverkusen as one player makes surprise return and four miss out

Injuries remain a problem for Liverpool ahead of their clash with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night. But head coach Arne Slot received a major boost before the game.

At open training on Monday, defender Ibrahima Konate took to the field after seemingly suffering a serious injury against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend. The France international was withdrawn at half time with his arm in a makeshift sling.

However, the issue was seemingly only minor and Slot confirmed Konate is in contention to take on the German champions at Anfield.

"He's available to play," Slot said. "I think he's completely recovered so he can play. Then it's up to me to make the decision if he plays or not. He's in a good place."

While Konate is back, four first-team players are certain to miss the fixture. Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are all set to be out until after the next international break; Liverpool's first fixture after that will be on November 24 at Southampton.

Despite those absentees Slot does have a strong squad to choose from and it will be intriguing to see if he makes many changes after the intense meeting with Brighton. The Reds recovered from a goal down to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

There could be chances for some young players to make an impression too. James Norris and Tom Hill both took part in open training on Monday, although Trey Nyoni missed out.
